Game time: Boston’s formidable Bruins line up for a game at the Garden against the Montreal Maroons during the 1929-30 season. At the end of March, Boston beat the Maroons in the Stanley Cup semi-finals before losing the Cup to the Montreal Canadiens. The best of these Bruins were the NHL’s leading scorer, Cooney Weiland, along with Dit Clapper, and Eddie Shore, with Vézina Trophy-winner
Tiny Thompson in the net. Montreal’s stand-outs were Hart Trophy-winner Nels Stewart along with Hooley Smith and Babe Siebert. Flat Walsh was the Montreal goaltender. (Photo: Boston Public Library, Leslie Jones Collection).
