NB: Born in Fredericton, on a Tuesday of this date in 1935, Willie O’Ree turns 85 today. In 1958, he became the first Black player to skate in the NHL when he turned out for the Boston Bruins in a game at Montreal’s Forum against the Canadiens. In 2018, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder.
